Finding Freedom in the Present Moment

To be born again is to let the past go, and look without condemnation upon the present.

The miracle enables you to see your brother without his past, and so perceive him as born again. His errors are all past, and by perceiving him without them you are releasing him. And since his past is yours, you share in this release. Let no dark cloud out of your past obscure him from you, for truth lies only in the present, and you will find it if you seek it there. (A Course in Miracles, T-13.VI.3:5;5)

We accept God’s gift of freedom by forgiving — letting go of the past. Since Love is eternal and changeless and all that is real, time cannot be real. Time is a mechanism of the belief in separation that can seem to separate us from the past and make forgiveness impossible. Yet with the Holy Spirit, Who is not bound by belief in separation, time and space, we can forgive the past and make way to accept God’s gift of freedom to be the changeless Love we were created to be.

Forgiveness is the key to happiness. Forgiveness is how we make way for Love to return to our awareness. As we let go of the past, we are free to see the present moment with our inner eyes. In the present moment only Love is there. In the present moment we join with the Love in all our brothers. In the present moment we are at Home in God’s Love.
