Following Holy Spirit’s Guidance

To follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance is to let yourself be absolved of guilt. It is the essence of the Atonement. It is the core of the curriculum. The imagined usurping of functions not your own is the basis of fear. The whole world you see reflects the illusion that you have done so, making fear inevitable. To return the function to the One to Whom it belongs is thus the escape from fear. And it is this that lets the memory of love return to you. Do not, then, think that following the Holy Spirit’s guidance is necessary merely because of your own inadequacies. It is the way out of hell for you. (A Course in Miracles, M-29.3:3-11)

Everyone in this world is searching for the peace of God. If we look to the ego for direction, we are sent on wild goose chases guaranteed to fail to bring us lasting peace. Thankfully we have a Guide in our mind to guide us to where true peace is found. But we have to be willing to give up our reliance on the ego, our little self, and turn over all our judgments to the Guide Who knows what is true and what is false.

Today our practice is to turn to Holy Spirit for guidance in all our doing. Because the Holy Spirit’s only purpose is to show us the truth, to bring us to peace, all our doing in the world becomes a steppingstone on the journey Home.
