Forgiveness — the Key to Happiness

Mary:
My lesson for today is to consistently recognize the fact that I am either seeing through the eyes of the ego or seeing through the eyes of the Holy Spirit. One thing that helps me with this practice is to ask myself, “Whose eyes am I looking through right now?” This helps me to move out of ego automatic pilot and step back again and again for the Holy Spirit to show me the Light that is behind all of the images of differences and uniqueness that I see.

This practice brings me happiness. This practice brings me peace and a quiet inner joy. The Holy Spirit is very helpful if I let Him show me the truth behind every situation in this world. This is my job today. It helps me awaken from the dream. And I give thanks.

Robert:
In our reading in A Course in Miracles today I was reminded how essential it is to remember that I do not know what anything means. It prepares the way for forgiveness. If I think I already know what anything in the world means, my mind is closed to the Holy Spirit’s vision. In the Text we are told to question everything. In an early lesson in the Workbook we are told to tell ourselves that we do not know what anything means. This is how we open our minds to a new way of seeing, to receiving a new meaning that comes from outside the box of the ego thought system.

The ego reacts to this with the idea, “So what am I, an idiot?” The short answer is, “Yes.” If an idiot is one who understands nothing, then the way out of a world of nothingness is to recognize that believing in it is being an idiot. This is a valuable step, not something to be afraid of or ashamed of. It is when we are willing to relax our grip on what we think things mean that we can open our minds and welcome a new way of seeing.

Today I am willing to be a happy idiot and remember that I do not know what anything means. And I will welcome a new way of seeing that shows me my innocence along with everyone’s.
