God’s Will Is Our Will in Truth

The Will of God forever lies in those whose hands are joined. Until they joined, they thought He was their enemy. But when they joined and shared a purpose, they were free to learn their will is one. And thus the Will of God must reach to their awareness. Nor can they forget for long that [God’s Will] is but their own [will]. (A Course in Miracles, T-30.V.11.)

“Joined hands” is a metaphor for accepting our oneness. God’s Will is that we are one, which means we have a shared purpose given us by God. Thus God’s Will is our will.

If we think are a separate entity, we will think we need to protect this “entity” against everything “outside” of it, including God. An illusion needs constant defense to make it seem real.

As we learn that our brothers are neither different nor separate from us, we accept that we do not need to defend against our brother, for he is the same pure Light of God as we are. Our brother is recognized as our friend with whom we join in God’s Love. The defensiveness motivated by fear is replaced by a joyous joining, motivated by Love.

In this joining, we accept God’s Will, which is to extend only Love, as our own will. Today we ask Holy Spirit’s help to recognize our unity with the Truth in every brother. As we accept this we will recognize the truth in us — that we are Love and nothing else.
