Heaven Goes With Us

Whenever you feel fear in any form,—and you are fearful if you do not feel a deep content, a certainty of help, a calm assurance Heaven goes with you,—be sure you made an idol, and believe it will betray you.

Forgiving dreams remind you that you live in safety and have not attacked yourself. …Forgiving dreams are kind to everyone who figures in the dream. And so they bring the dreamer full release from dreams of fear. (A Course in Miracles, T-29.IX.9:1;10:1,3-4)

I woke up last night and made up a story of conflict in my mind. I thought of scenarios and means I could use to defend myself. These definitely were not thoughts of contentment and safety. Looking at it now it is laughable that I would entertain this made up story that had no basis, even in seeming events in the world. It was a good example to show me how my thoughts affect my experience.

The Course is teaching us that we do not have to be limited to these thoughts. We are always free to choose a better way. We are always free to choose a Guide Whose only motivation is to extend Love. In truth, that is our only true motivation as well. Our true Self is an extension of Love and Its only desire is to keep that extension going. Thoughts of judgment, fear, conflict and guilt are simply childish toys that no longer serve us.

With the practice of aligning our minds with the Holy Spirit, we learn these toys have no substance and no meaning. As we forgive, we lay down these toys of judgment. This is how we make way for the experience of the calm assurance that Heaven goes with us.
