Lighten Up

In this world there will always be differences and competing forces, vying for attention. There will always be problems, one after the other, to divert our attention from the Light we all truly are.

This morning I awoke with the words, “lighten up,” and with these words came the peace and gentleness that led me to see the Light beyond the forms of this world. To be happy I must be willing to lighten up, to not take the differences I see in this world so seriously. When I am willing to lighten up, I find the same Light of Love behind every form of differences. I find the same peace, the same constant joy. When I am willing to lighten up, all the forms the ego may take simply do not matter. When I am willing to lighten up, what seemed to be a problem before now is seen with clarity.

When I am willing, the eternal Light of truth is always there to see. When I am willing, I can see the constancy of Love. I see that Love never changes. What do I want to see today? As I am willing to step back from ego thoughts and lighten up, the Holy Spirit carries me past all forms of differences to the eternal and constant state of Love which is always there to see. And I give thanks.

There are several ways to interpret “lighten up.” It can mean to lay down the heavy burden of fear and guilt that comes with belief in separation. It can also mean to bring Light into the darkened place where Light has been denied to shine away the shadows of false images and reveal the truth of ever present, changeless Love. It can mean remembering to laugh at the insane idea that there could be more than everything. All of these are helpful to remind me that all I really want is to be changeless Love as God created me. Today is a good day to practice ‘lightening up.’
