Our Need for Mind Training

Reality is accessible only to a mind that is bright, alive and focused in the present. To let the mind wander in the past or project the future, is to miss the present entirely. Only a mind, resting in the present, can encounter Truth. An undisciplined mind, an untrained mind, cannot attain or maintain the necessary condition to directly experience its true Being. The purpose of spiritual discipline, of mind training, is to achieve just that quietness and stability of mind in which Spirit reveals Itself as you. (From the Christ Mind, p. 70. We are seeing that we have been wrong about our identity. We are learning that to return to our true Identity, we need mind training. The Holy Spirit quietly resides in our mind, waiting for us to be willing to return to Reality. We are learning to practice listening to our inner Teacher, the Holy Spirit, instead of the false ego mind. We are letting the thoughts that come from the false ego mind be undone by the Holy Spirit. As we allow our fear thoughts, our false beliefs to be undone, we are returned to the freedom, peace and joy of our true Identity.

To receive the Holy Spirit’s mind training, we must be willing to let ourselves return to the quiet mind, where peace abides. As we practice the spiritual discipline of consistently choosing peace rather than conflict and fear thoughts, we give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to heal and release our thoughts from the past. We are brought to the Love we are in the eternal now. We are brought to the awareness that we are the same eternal Spirit that includes everyone.
