Releasing Barriers to Love

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all of the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. It is not necessary to seek for what is true, but it is necessary to seek for what is false. Every illusion is one of fear, whatever form it takes. And the attempt to escape from one illusion into another must fail. If you seek love outside yourself you can be certain that you perceive hatred within, and are afraid of it. Yet peace will never come from the illusion of love, but only from its reality.”

To lift the veil that seems so dark and heavy, it is only needful to value truth beyond all fantasy, and to be entirely unwilling to settle for illusion in place of truth. (A Course in Miracles, T-16.IV.6;10:4. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

We have a very simple test to determine whether we are accepting the reality of truth or valuing illusions. Only Love is real. Peace only comes from accepting the reality of Love. If we are not experiencing perfect peace, then we must be valuing an illusion, which hides the presence of Love from our awareness.

To lift this veil, we need to withdraw our investment in wanting illusions to be real. We need to learn to recognize that illusions can offer us nothing in truth. We need to undo the mistaken lessons we have taught ourselves that illusions can give us anything of value.

To do this, we need to accept the kind and loving lessons offered us by the Teacher within. The practice of willingly holding our minds open to the Holy Spirit’s interpretation of everything we see, everything we experience, is how we unlearn the false lessons that stand between us and the experience of the joy and peace of God’s everlasting Love.

Holy Spirit, guide our thoughts, our words, our hands, our feet today that we may remember we remain as Love created us.
