The Gift of the Holy Relationship

The Light that joins you and your brother shines throughout the universe, and because It joins you and him, so It makes you and him one with your Creator. And in Him is all creation joined. Would you regret you cannot fear alone, when your relationship can also teach the power of Love is there, which makes all fear impossible? Do not attempt to keep a little of the ego with [the gift of the holy relationship]. For it was given you to be used, and not obscured. What teaches you that you cannot separate denies the ego. Let truth decide if you and your brother be different or the same, and teach you which is true. (A Course in Miracles, T-22.VI.15. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

A relationship becomes holy when it is dedicated to seeing only innocence. It thus becomes a classroom for learning to overlook what never happened; to overlook separation. As we learn in a holy relationship that we are one with our brother, we learn that there can be no harm, for what is one cannot harm itself. The idea of harm depends on belief that separation is real. There must appear to be two opposing entities that conflict. Yet conflict is impossible in the oneness of Love.

If we want to fully learn the lesson of Love’s oneness which the holy relationship teaches, we must be willing to let go of our investment in the ego thought system of separation. We cannot keep one little part of it, for even the “smallest” thought of separation draws a veil over the vision of innocence.

Today we practice accepting Holy Spirit’s help to lift the veil and see our brother’s innocence.
