Poem for My Star Child

Rev. Helene BurkeInner child
hiding in the corners of fear,
Please look…
Nobody can hurt you here.

No harsh words
In any way,
Only kindness
And lots of play.
Oh, I see
You peeking out now!

Smiling eyes of blue…
You believe in magic,
And what you believe
is true.
Watch my heart
open wide just for you.

Good child!
You took the leap,
And find yourself inside…
My heart center,
where healing love abides.

Look up…
see God’s Light
shining on
your innocence so bright.

Now you know
what is really true,
No matter what cruel words
were said to you.
In everyone’s heart
we are joined as One…
Love, acceptance
and fun!

I know…
you must return to
my mind as a child,
But…just this once,
I wanted to show you
where peace resides
for awhile.

So…
try to remember
the next time
Mother seems mean,
In the Oneness of God
everyone
is joy and love…
Unhappy thoughts
are a dream!
